H Jennifer Aniston ίσως πήρε την μεγαλύτερη απογοήτευση της καριέρας της δια στόματος των J.J Abrams, Alfonso Cuarron και Chris Pine! Η 45χρονη star δεν θα είναι υποψήφια το βράδυ της 22ης Φεβρουαρίου για το Oscar καλύτερης ηθοποιού για την ερμηνεία της στο Cake καθώς η Ακαδημία δεν συμμερίστηκε την άποψη των κριτικών. Μάχη για τον Α' Ανδρικό ρόλο ανάμεσα σε Eddie Redmayne και ο Michael Keaton. Βirdman και Grand Hotel Budapest με 9 υποψηφιότητες.
Για τo Οscar καλύτερης ταινίας το Birdman του Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu δεν θα μπορούσε να μείνει έξω, όπως και το The Theory Of Everything του James Marsh. Ωστόσο μόνο ο σκηνοθέτης του Birdman είδε το όνομα του στην λίστα των υποψηφίων ενώ οι δυο πρωταγωνιστές των ταινιών, Michael Keaton και Eddie Redmayne είναι υποψήφιοι για το Χρυσό Αγαλματάκι.
Στην κατηγορία Α' Γυναικείου Ρόλου η Julliane Moore παίζει χωρίς... αντίπαλο ουσιαστικά για την ερμηνεία της στο Still Alice ενώ η Amy Adams που κατέκτησε και εκείνη Golden Globe στην ταινία Βig Eyes είχε την τύχη της Aniston!
Παρουσιαστής της βραδιάς θα είναι ο Neil Patrick Harris, όπως είναι γνωστό εδώ και καιρό ενώ η τελετή θα γίνει στο Dolby Theater του Los Angeles στις 22 Φεβρουαρίου.
